Hello all.
First, I'd like to apologize for disappearing for so long. I started Nursing School in August and it has pretty much dissolved any semblance of a life I ever had. One thing I HAVE been doing is going to concerts, getting new music on a weekly, if not daily, basis and learning a lot with this whole Nursing School nonsense..

Scrub your hands while singing the Happy Birthday song kiddos! |
I couldn't really decide what to write on this post... All I know is that i felt like writing.. So, we'll see where this leads..
And now, here's news that would probably only matter to my group of friends and I... Some of my favorite artists have released albums in the past couple of months... I was lucky to see 2/3 of them (among others) in concert over the summer as you read I would be in one of my
posts. First came
Hands All Over by
Maroon 5 and more recently
Come Around Sundown by none other than
Kings of Leon and
Speak Now by
Taylor Swift.. Yeah, you can say I have an odd taste in music, but I've become accustomed to that already.

Threesome consisting of 10 people... TENSOME! |
First up, for
Hands All Over. It's been out for a little over a month and this album is exceptionally better than their other albums. They have a great combination of both sounds. You know, a mix between the Rock-ish sound of
Harder to Breathe and POP-y beat of
Makes Me Wonder? It's great. If you haven't already heard the album, it's very sensual, fun and emotional. I also recommend seeing them in concert at least once. I've seen them twice already and they NEVER disappoint. A lot of audience interaction, cursing and the vocals are wonderful (of course). Their lyrics really get me every time. Some key songs (and by key songs, I mean my favorites) include:
Stutter, Never Gonna Leave This Bed, Hands All Over, How, Last Chance and
Out of Goodbyes (which features Lady Antebellum) -- That's pretty much half, if not the entire album, but it was hard to pick just those and NOT recommend the rest of the songs. Its a phenomenal album.

Haters... to the left? maybe to the right? Doesn't matter just keep moving. |
Next up, the album I've probably been most excited about,
Come Around Sundown. I don't think I can even begin to express how AMAZEBALLS this album is. It's gritty, dirty, fun and raunchy all at the same time. You won't be disappointed when you have this album in your possession. Some people said they were crestfallen when they first heard Radioactive because it's so different from anything they've ever heard from Kings of Leon.. But I can tell you right this minute, that every single song on this album is different. They are all very diverse. We get Back Down South which has a country vibe to it.. Then they throw Birthday and Celebration our way put you in a surfer/beachy mood. It's hard to pick just a few songs as my favorites... But if I absolutely had to, I'd go with
The End, Pyro, The Face, The Immortals, Mary, Pony Up &
Mi Amigo.. actually, that's almost the whole album... Which is just code for every song is
A BIG BOWL OF AWESOMESAUCE & you should get your hands on that album RIGHT THE F@!K NOW...

There ARE other members in KOL.. but I just HAD TO put this up. |
Side Note: KOL -- SO. AMAZING. LIVE. I don't think I've ever danced and rocked out as much as I did when I saw them in concert. I also recommend seeing them multiple times if you can. They worked the crowd, sang all my favorite songs and really put on a sensational show.
Lastly, one of the chart toppers of our generation, Taylor Swift. Her newly released album titled
Speak Now is exactly that... Our dear
old youngin' Swifty SPEAKING OUT. We know her main inspiration comes from her relationships.. Some, if not most, are boyfriends who have been utter fails in her life (Joe Jonas, Adam from Owl City apparently and heart breaker John Mayer are a few, among the many, contributors to her lyrics). I was, however, excited to see how Taylor Lautner would be her muse for
Back to December (which just so happens to be my favorite song on the album). Before you jump my bones, it's not my favorite because it's about Taylor. So relax. The reason why I enjoy this song the most is because the lyrics are unusual in comparison to her other songs.
"So this is me swallowing my pride, standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night...and I go back to December all the time." ..
"Wishin' that i realized what I had when you were mine." We're so accustomed to hearing her bash guys, seeking vengeance. So, it's nice to see her taking responsibility when things didn't work out because of her. Now we all know that T.Laut is a great guy and that she messed things up and she wishes she hadn't. Not very upbeat, but it does have some songs that can put you in a chipper mood (
Better Than Revenge), but all in all it's another emotional journey through Taylor Swift's diary... I wouldn't have it any other way.. My favorites of the album (Don't judge me for not picking certain songs as my favorites)
Last Kiss, Enchanted, Dear John, Mine, Back to December (OBVIOUSLY),
Innocent and
Never Grow Up.
 |
"I watched you laughin' from the passenger side &
realized that I loved you in the fall." |
Another Side Note: Big ups to my Swiftionary Lanaya (follow her on twitter because she's awesome
@lanaya_salim) for deciphering some, if not all, of Swifty's hidden messages for her songs and who they're about (which I have, with her permission, listed below).
-Better Than Revenge- You Thought I Would Forget
-Enchanted-Adam (Owl City)
-Story of Us- CMT Awards (John Mayer)
-Never Grow Up-Moved Out in July
-Mean- Thought You Got me
-Dear John- Loved You From The Very First Day(John Mayer)
-Speak Now- You Always Regret What You Don't Say
-Mine- Toby
-Sparks Fly- Portland, Oregon
-Innocent- Life's Full Of Little Interruptions (Kanye)
-Haunted- Still To This Day
-Last Kiss- Forever and Always
-Long Live- For You
-Back To December- Taylor Lautner
Oh and BTDUBBBSSS. I know a lot of you are all still thinking she's only famous because of Kanye... wah wah wah .. Go cry to your mom.. or Kanye... Last I recall, they announced and picked her as a winner before he came on stage being an idiot. I'M JUST SAYING..

Go cry about it on Twitter, Kanye ::massive eye roll:: |
