Fashion (noun): The style characteristic of the social elite.
Fashion is in the eye of the beholder. Someone could think shoulder pads on a women's blazer is fashionable in any era, whilst any other sane human being would rather use those shoulder pads to create a travel neck pillow of some sort. But, fashion for low class people (you know, people like YOU, ME... Vanessa Hudgens...) is fairly simple.
We throw on a nice little black dress, accessorize it and you're out the door and ready to take on the town. Chances are none of us will be getting photographed obnoxiously by paparazzi and getting criticized to the point that it can hurt our career. But the fact of the matter is that celebrities apparently cannot dress themselves therefore, they hire stylists who in the end can't dress themselves either causing them to humiliate the celebrity appointed to them. Now, not all celebrities are hot messes...

Before acknowledging the suggestions made by my Facebook friends, I thought about women who I BELIEVE were true fashionistas...The most fashionable women in Hollywood. The first two people who came to my mind were Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian... OKAY RELAX. Some may be thinking "WHAT THE FORKS?! LADY GAGA!? REALLY?" Well, bear in mind Lady Gaga has her OWN style. She doesn't try to accommodate herself to the latest couture but she's an entertainer and that's exactly what her attire usually does; entertain the public.
Then there's the ever so lovely Kim Kardashian. Yes, she did a sex tape. Yes, she LURVESSS her chocolate men ;) and yes, I AM PART OF HER SHOEDAZZLE SHOE CLUB! WHO CARES? The woman can dress. Her sense of style ranges from traditional to chic to Red Carpet ready from one day to the next. Her body is voluptuous and sexy giving her the curves other celebrities lack when rocking a certain outfit. She is one of my favorites and I'm one of those who believe she can do no wrong... at least when it comes to Fashion...
The Queens of that Long Red Rug at Award Shows... and the ones who are mistaken about being part of the Red Carpet monarchy...
After watching Fashion Police on the E! network after EVERY SINGLE AWARD SHOW, it's come to my attention that they have a VERY peculiar sense of style. Granted, they're professionals, they actually enjoy couture. But I prefer to see celebrities in styles that don't look ridiculous on the Red Carpet. With that said... We move on to my Queen. Queen of acting, Queen of media and QUEEN OF THE RED CARPET... Kate Winslet.
With Oscar wins and Golden Globes hanging around, this British starlet has more than acting going for her. Her sense of style is classic, always elegant and appropriate. She owns every Red Carpet she sets foot on and has the media eating out of the palm of her hand. She handles interviews with grace and poise, has stupendous posture and look at those legs... She can DEFINITELY ROCK HER LBD BETTER THAN MANY OTHER LEADING LADIES...
Okay, now this is when I start to think E! has some serious drug habits because they have to be on something really good to think THIS belongs on ANY KIND OF BEST DRESSED LIST...
Don't be surprised everyone... Many people don't know her but she's actually a well-known actress. Meet Vera Farmiga if you haven't already. She has starred in many hit movies such as the Oscar nominated 'Up in the Air' opposite George Clooney, The Departed and Running Scared. Vera is part Ukrainian; her culture gives her a few extra brownie points because she has a different view on fashion. However, you have a LOT of money, you can afford to say no if the dress is ugly... and honey, with all those ruffles it looks like the sewing machine got mad and all of a sudden started making repetitive thrusts towards the fabric causing those hideous ruffles to just hang off of your body like a curtain. GROSS-O-RAMA!
On to the ethnically diverse women in Hollywood.. We have Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez. They are both gorgeous and favorites on the E! Network's Fashion Police. They are both talented, married and both have a clothing line. However, just because you have a clothing line does not mean you're allowed to make these decisions...
I feel like Beyonce (first picture left to right) raided my living room and took all the fabric from my pillows. WHAT IS WITH THE PATTERN!? I'm okay with the gold and black, that's a lovely color scheme. But you're so beautiful. You can do SO MUCH BETTER especially if you're going to an event as prestigious as the Oscars. And the ruffles on that Orange dress? yeah, HAVE TO GO! Next, Jennifer Lopez... Jenny from the Block.. That's actually EXACTLY what it looks like. That pale orange dress actually looks like you took a field trip to Hialeah and went shopping in all the Ateliers to find the perfect dress for your bridesmaids... You're a celebrity. You need to broaden your horizons a little bit. I love that you want to be humble and down to Earth... Just don't do it on the Red Carpet.. and that white Mini dress-- you LOOK LIKE A GLADIATOR OR SOMEONE FROM THE TUDOR DYNASTY. PLEASE. NO. Just stop.. No words, no words except all i think about is that show with Jonathan Rhys Myers 'The Tudors'... Yeah... Not very modern eh?
But there are those occasions where Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce can also be a treat... They give me those sporadic moments of kindness towards my eyes where i DO actually think they make good decisions when going to work the Red Carpet. Thumbs up on these choices. Love the high slit on Beyonce's sparkly dress, and the low cut cleavage on J.Lo's dress is sexy and formal at the same time.
I can only pray that in the year 2010, celebrities can open their eyes and their mouths (TO SPEAK UP Kim Kardashian, not to do anything else!) and tell their stylists they've had enough. Don't mix patterns, browns and blacks don't match, poofy dresses don't look good on just anyone... and for the love of all that is Holy, do NOT attempt to rock THESE LOOKS AGAIN...
To all of my favorite leading ladies, (you know who you are) next time you consider mixing a bunch of colors into one outfit, just remember you are not a rainbow. Look in the mirror realize your (and your stylist's) mistake, change your clothes and wear something that won't want to make me poke my eyes out or cry from hideousness. I'd like to see what other shenanigans Lady Gaga will come up with, so I'll need my eyes... I'M JUST SAYING...
